To some people, the term “Wedding DJ” alone sounds old fashioned. “Dated,” “boring,” or “corny” might be words that come to mind. Or perhaps they just shudder when they think about their friends and family groaning as the MC tells bad jokes or encourages everyone to do the Chicken Dance.

Luckily, as wedding DJs, we organize our music in ways that allow us to quickly sort and access our library so that we always have access to the music we need most, just at the right time. But as you think about the music for your wedding, with a million other things on your mind, it might be easy to forget who sings that great song you heard on the radio the other day (it was probably Echosmith – Cool Kids, just guessing…).

There are a number of songs that your wedding DJ should ask you about as part of your music program planning. The big ones that we think of regularly are the first dance, any parents dances that we are doing, and the music that you will be introduced to. The cake cutting is another moment where you may want to choose a specific song, but it can be difficult to know where to start…
